Geographe was founded in Western Australia by local engineer Neville Hyder in 1968. It had continued the entrepreneurial tradition with ownership and management by second and third generation family members. Since then, the company has accumulated 40 years of operational experience in the manufacture of high performance replacement parts.
From its beginnings, it supplied engineering services to the state’s mining and resource industries. By the early 1980s a significant proportion of the company’s business was derived from the manufacture of catalogue replacement parts for imported earthmoving and mining equipment. This trade was born from a demand for parts specifically customised to withstand the harsh Western Australian environment.
By the 1990s, customers recognised the significant advantage offered by Geographe’s holistic approach to mine maintenance through the bundling of services for fixed plant and mobile equipment. The company has grown immensely and now employs approximately 200 people dedicated to manufacturing and servicing high performing parts for fixed and mobile plant, with production facilities located in Perth and Bunbury. It has a nationwide distribution system to facilitate national and international distribution contracts across Australia, Papua New Guinea, France, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Canada, Chile and Ghana. |
